Data protection on the internet

The bremenports websites are continuously developed and adapted to match the changing requirements of a customer-focused, interactive information platform.

In respect of the existing websites and any other content placed on the websites or in the app in future, we assure you that we store, process and/or disclose your personal data only if you have given your explicit consent, e.g. by registering for a particular section of our website.

Your personal data will be processed only for the purpose for which it has been provided. The data will be disclosed to third parties only if we are legally obliged to do so or if you have given your written consent.
1. Anonymous data capture
As a matter of principle, you can visit our websites without telling us who you are. We save neither the name of your internet service provider, the website from which you are visiting us nor the name of the file you have requested.

2. Capturing and processing personal data
Your personal data will be captured only if you disclose the data of your own accord when subscribing to our newsletter, applying for a job at bremenports or using our contact form to get in touch with us.
Data entered in the contact form, such as your name, company, e-mail address and telephone number, will be used only for the purpose of direct communication with you.
You are obliged to tell us your e-mail address when you subscribe to our newsletter. The data will be used only to send you the newsletter. The newsletter contains information about the latest events at the ports in Bremen and Bremerhaven and about the bremenports company. Your e-mail address will be saved until you cancel the newsletter, which you can do by clicking the corresponding link in the newsletter or by informing us that you no longer wish to subscribe. This will not entail any costs other than the basic rate transmission costs. Cancellation of your subscription automatically revokes your consent to the use of your e-mail address, which will then be deleted immediately.
Any personal data disclosed in connection with an application for a job at bremenports will be used only in connection with the application procedure and deleted immediately on completion of that procedure.

3. Cookies
Our website uses cookies which are intended to make our website more effective, secure and user-friendly, for instance to enable faster navigation. Cookies also provide us with information about how many hits our website attracts and about the general navigation. Cookies are small text files which are stored in your computer system. Please note that some of these cookies are transmitted from our server to your computer system; most of these refer to session cookies, which are automatically deleted from your hard drive at the end of your browser session. Other cookies remain in your computer system and enable us to recognise your computer system the next time you visit our website (permanent cookies). You can, of course, refuse to allow cookies at any time, if your browser offers that option.

4. Matomo
This website uses the open source web analysis service Matomo. Matomo uses technologies that make it possible to recognize the user across multiple pages with the aim of analyzing the user patterns (e.g. cookies or device fingerprinting). The information recorded by Matomo about the use of this website will be stored on our server. Prior to archiving, the IP address will first be anonymized.
The use of this analysis tool is based on Art. 6 Sect. 1 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the analysis of user patterns, in order to optimize the operator’s web offerings and advertising. If a corresponding agreement has been requested (e.g. an agreement to the storage of cookies), the processing takes place exclusively on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR; the agreement can be revoked at any time.

The information collected by Matomo concerning the use of this website shall not be shared with any third parties.

5. Confidentiality
We implement both technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data. Our employees are bound by the special confidentiality obligations which normally apply to business enterprises.

6. Information disclosure
Pursuant to the German Data Protection Act, you are entitled to free information about any data about you which we have saved. You are also entitled to demand that any such data is rectified, blocked or deleted.

7. Data security
Your personal data is SSL-encrypted before transmission. Technical and organisational security measures are in place to protect our website and other systems against loss, destruction, access, modification or dissemination of your data by unauthorised persons.

8. Further information and contacts
If you have any further questions or suggestions about the subject of data protection, please get in touch with us. If you have any questions about the capture, processing or use of your personal data, or about the provision of information, rectification, blockage or deletion of data, wish to revoke any consent you have given or to inspect our procedures directory pursuant to Section 4e German Federal Data Protection Act, please contact our data protection officer:
